The robot embriodery is finished, I just need to bind it which I have started.

I started working on some new toy designs and those will be in my shop within the next few days. I really like the direction I’m going in but I wonder if I’ll ever be able to make a living having my own business. So many talented people are trying the same thing and struggling to make ends meet I wonder why I think it will be any different for me. I have to give this ago because I want to stay home with my son. I also don’t know if I mentioned but I am expecting again which means we will (hopefully all going well) have 2 children under two which not only expensive to put them in full-time childcare while I go to work but also not what I would want at all.  I know not all women have the choice and I am grateful that for the time being I have the option to stay at home.

I’m loving embroidery at the moment. I designed this robot which is going to go in my shop as a small wall hanging. I’m going to attach batting and a backing fabric then use binding to finish it off. I’m thinking a nice bright red will set off the colours nicely.

I’m also working on one for my little boy with his name on and images begining with the same letters underneath. So J and jellyfish for example. I love how its taking shape. I might offer these as custom orders in the shop too if people like them. They would be perfect to hang on the door of the nursery or on the wall.

I’m trying to overhaul my shop at the moment. I have so many ideas and its only when you start trying things out that you can find what works and what doesn’t. My baby shoes are quite popular but because they are quite time consuming to make they don’t make much business sense. I make reversible shoes with no seams and this can take longer than the stardust shoes pattern for example where you have the seams showing. I might still offer the shoes but maybe as a gift set instead.

I’d really like to go in direction of wall art and soft toys. I have so many ideas and I’m really excited to try  them out. If anyone has any views please let me know.
